Rhetoric- The act of persuasion. To make text more approachable/accessible.
Discourse- The way in which a specific community communicates with one another.
Discourse Community- A group of people who share a set of discourses, understood as basic values and assumptions, wand ways of communicating about those goals.
Logos- The appeal to logic, means to convince an audience by use of logic or reason.
Ethos- The appeal to ethics, means to convince an audience of the author's credibility.
Pathos- The appeal to emotions, means to persuade an audience by appealing to their emotions.
Genre Set- Overall set of genres available to a culture.
Genre Typification- The common way of writing for a specific genre, or genre system.
Science Writing- Writing about science for a general audience.
Scientific Writing- Writing about science for other scientists.
